The article presents the results of studies of the natural resource potential of a municipal district located in the northern zone of the Omsk region. Using the methodology for assessing natural resource potential, the value of biological (natural) resources, agricultural production resources and socio-ecological resources in the structure of the natural resource potential of the region was calculated. The assessment results made it possible to determine promising directions for the development of the region. The methodology developed by the authors is presented, on the basis of which a digital information model for the rational use of natural resource potential using geographic information systems and technologies is formed. Recommendations are given for the possible rational use of natural resources for the sustainable development of the municipality.
