In the past few years, the domestic economy has faced new challenges that have acted as restraining factors in its development. For large enterprises, such challenges have become a springboard for further development, and small businesses, due to limited opportunities, have faced new problems. The purpose of the study was to assess the trends in the development of entrepreneurship in recent years and develop directions for adapting to new economic realities. In the course of the study, an assessment was made of the development of small and medium-sized businesses according to the main economic indicators, the latest trends in changing external business conditions were established, problems were identified and systematized, and the main directions for overcoming them were outlined.
